Festival Terms and Conditions

Last updated September 2026

The short version

Make a short film on the theme "The Future of Hollywood", post it on the festival subreddit before entries close, and you are in. Entry is free. Prizes are paid in Remerged credits. These terms are the full rules; where the announcement and these terms disagree, these terms apply.

Who can enter

Anyone aged 18 or over, anywhere, except employees of Remerged and their immediate families. You must have a Remerged account to receive a prize, because prizes are credited to one. If a law where you live makes entry or the prize unlawful, you are not eligible.

When entries close

1 December 2026 at 21:00 UTC — 8:00am on 2 December in Sydney. The time an entry is posted on the subreddit decides whether it is in, as recorded by that platform. Anything posted after the deadline is not an entry, however close.

How to enter

Post your film on the festival subreddit with its category in the title. One entry per person per category, so at most three entries each. Posting the same film to more than one category, or entering under more than one account, voids every entry from that person.

What you may enter

Films made with Remerged, on the theme, within the time limit for the category. You must own or have permission for everything in your film — footage, music, voices, likenesses and anything a model was prompted with. Do not enter work that is not yours to enter. Nothing illegal, nothing depicting a real person without their consent, and nothing that would breach the subreddit's own rules.

Judging

The judged prizes — Overall and Second — are decided by Remerged on the strength of the film against the theme: idea, craft and how well it uses the medium. They may be awarded to an entry in any category. The People's Choice prize goes to the entry with the highest net upvote count on the subreddit at the moment entries close; if two entries tie, the one with more comments wins, and if they still tie, the earlier post wins.

Fair play

Buying, trading, botting or otherwise arranging votes or comments disqualifies the entry and the entrant. We do not have to prove how it was done, and a platform's own finding of manipulation is enough. Judged prizes are at our discretion and that discretion is final; the People's Choice prize follows the count described above rather than our opinion of it.

Prizes

Overall $500, Second $250, People's Choice $250. Prizes are issued as Remerged credits, not cash, and are not redeemable for money. Credits are added to the winner's Remerged account and are subject to the ordinary terms of the service. One person may win at most one prize. If a winner cannot be reached within 14 days of us trying, or is not eligible, the prize passes to the next placed entry.

Your film stays yours

You keep every right you have in your film. By entering you give Remerged a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to show, reproduce and share your entry — and your name or handle as its author — to run, judge and promote this festival and future ones, including on our site and in advertising. You can ask us to stop using it by writing to support@remerged.ai, and we will, except where it is already printed or placed.

Results

Winners are announced within one week of entries closing, on the subreddit and at remerged.ai/festival. We will contact winners through the account or platform they entered from.

If something goes wrong

We may change these rules, extend the deadline or cancel the festival if we have to — a platform outage, too few entries, or a legal reason. Any change is posted on this page. We are not responsible for entries lost, removed or hidden by the subreddit or its moderators, and the festival is not run, sponsored or endorsed by that platform.

The boring part

The festival is run by Remerged from New South Wales, Australia, and is a competition of skill: no element of chance decides a prize. Nothing here limits any right you have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Questions: support@remerged.ai.
